Time is running out.

Several emails have prompted this post.  It is apparent that a number of golfers are hesitating to pledge because of the uncertainty of the golf course even opening.  Some are hesitating because of the contract being a 12 month contract.

First of all since I have been involved with the club, all contracts have been 12 months except for pool membership as are practically all memberships of all clubs unless they are running a special seasonal membership.

Our current contract has provisions for early termination for illness, relocation, and being called to active duty by the military.

There is also a clause in it that if by 12/31/11, the course is not meeting your expectations, you can terminate your membership.

At the current time, we are only asking for pledges, not binding contracts, which will give us a feel for how many people we can expect to join once you are able to tee the ball up.  Your membership start date would be opening day of the golf course, not immediately.  In the past the memberships have been run from the first of a month until the end of that month but that doesn’t mean that they can’t run from any other day of the month.  If the course opens on the 21^st, your membership would run from the 21^st to the 20^th of the next month.  In other words you will always get a full month of membership and you won’t be required to pay until the golf course is playable.

We currently are a little less than half way to our goal of golf members.  Considering the current interest, or lack of, it is doubtful that we will reach our goal and the golf course will not be able to open.  At this time all indications are that we may never see this property as a golf course again.

Please, if you are hoping that we reach our goal, spread the word among your neighbors and friends that time is of the essence.  Our resources are limited and we are doing what we can to get the word out but we sure appreciate any help you can give us.
